Mandela Tales ... South Bank Centre, Purcell Rooms, february 2012
Musically Directed by renowned composer Shirley Thompson, Mandela Tales performed at The Purcell Rooms at The Queen Elizabeth Hall at London's South Bank Centre to sell out audience. An international ensemble came together for Mandela Tales based on Nelson Mandela's favourite African Folk Tales, this show highlights stories from regions and traditions across Africa with storytelling and live music. The music was composed by Shirley Thompson and performed by international special guests. Vivid narration by Rolemop's Kerri McLean & Khallid Golding with music performed by Ugene Skeef, Yolanda Grant Thompson and Byron Wallen, projection by Alex Buckley. Snakes and Ladders ... september-november 2011
A bold and powerful new comic drama about race, identity and the testing of family loyalties, partly inspired by stories and memories collected from the Brighton based Positive Hair Day (PHD) heritage project. Amma can't bear to relax, Kim loves being the one blessed with 'good hair' and Sista is allergic to all forms of family life. Each sister knows thier place, that is until Simone comes along and suddenly no-one knows who they are anymore. Written by Sarah Naomi-Lee and directed by Kerri McLean, the script was developed through workshops with brighton-based artsists, inspired by an audio archive of black hair stories. Funded by Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Supported by Basement Arts & Nightingale Theatre. What is Pride to You? ... august 2010
An interactive documentary and installation, delivered at the Old Post Office building in Kemp Town, Brighton. Having two strands, this project firstly provided video footage for the big screen in Preston Park on the day of the pride festival, with the samesky youth team; bringing the journey of the floats to a massive audience from all over the country. Secondly, the creation of an interactive documentary installation gave the public chance to explore the thoughts and feelings of the documentary subjects as they explored the space, triggering pressure sensors around the space.
Youth Voice ... brighton festival, May 2010

Commissioned by Samesky, Rolemop presented a live video feed at The Brighton Festival’s Children's parade. In the lead up to the event we delivered production team workshops, training young people to be live video producers, directors, and reporters. The Young team practically capture events in Brighton Festival’s Kids parade, which were then instantly relayed through to the big screen at the finish line of the parade for the opening of the brighton festival. Past Replay Past ... september 2009
A guerrilla sound and video installation @ P3 Gallery, London. Rolemop took over the 150,000 sq ft hangar and emerged, as if from nowhere, with an atmospheric, interactive audio-visual guerrilla installation, performace, and curated event. A unique sound and video interactive system allowed the audience to control the narrative through a series of pressure sensors hidden in different locations around the set. Entering this space we find ourselves in the spot where a mother and daughter have just met after ten years apart. The piece gave a glimpse into a past both frightening and beautiful. Fusing poetry, performance, sound, and image, Past Replay Past culminated in a musical moment of existence.
Broken Loops in the Community ... march - april 2009


Rolemop developed and piloted a program of workshops for long term unemployed individuals, with charity CDG, where intensive sessions were delivered using an interactive, technology based system called gridio; a multimedia system using drama, video and sound, to engage and develop skills specifically for the use of gaining future employment.
The Secret Agent south east/london tour ... september - november 2008

This new theatre writing adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s classic tale, based on the real events surrounding England’s first suicide bomber, was produced by the award winning Rolemop Arts Ltd, and co-produced with Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. With minimal set and equipment, using shadow and light to create a noir-inspired atmosphere to convey the seedy underworld of The Secret Agent in Victorian London, actors performed the piece through dynamic dual-roles. The piece toured to theatres in London, Brighton, Oxford, Reading, Kent, and Guildford, and was supported by The Arts Council England and Brighton and Hove City Council.

Broken Loops, a contemporary audio-visual performance of cutting edge music, physical theatre, and poignant narrative was commissioned by The Loop Festival for their 2007 event. Created fromscratch by Rolemop Arts, this is an audience interactive drama, using the pressure sensitive audio-visual mixer Gridio. Rolemop’s live narrative explores the world of Rose and her mother Cheryl in their first meeting in years, andexplores their shared memories ‘hidden’ within the space of the Gridio. The piece addresses the constantly changing nature of meaningand memory. Combining custom built soundand video this interactive experience serves to embody the emotional and rhythmical state that is this motherand daughter’s existence.
The Secret Agent preview season ... october 2007
The preview season of The Secret Agent resulted in Rolemop producing the South East tourin 2008 mentioned earlier. During the preview season Rolemop developed the idea of the production and the script for preview shows at The Margate Theatre Royal during The Canterbury Festival, The Pavilion Theatre in Brighton, and The Northbrook Theatre in Worthing.
Pockets of Performance ... may 2007
Commissioned by Arts & Business, Rolemop created tailor-made, site-specific, pockets of performance for A&B’s annual awards ceremony at the cutting edge Aspex Art Gallery in Portsmouth. Rolemopprovided humorous entertainment that included beat boxers, clowning, actors, magicians, musicians, and stilt walkers, bringing a unique and special touch to A&B’s event.
A Fine Line Between Laughter and Loathing ... may 2006


A contemporary, theatre and music play about a circus troupe stranded in the real world, left to survive and pay off their ringmasters’ debts. The performance premiered at the Brighton Festival Fringe 2006. A rich and dark comedy interweaving naturalism and stylised performance with interactive live music and pre-recorded audio; an entertaining yet thought provoking piece. An hilariously bizarre exploration of identity, belonging and exploitation with a balance of comedy and dark disgust, actors performed alongside Bosnian folk band, Miesenka, for a thrillingly different experience. The piece ran for 5 nights during the Brighton Festival 2006, and was sponsored by the Grass Roots Arts Commission with Brighton and Hove City Council, as well as support from Harmony Culture in the Community.
I-Slide short film ... january 2005
I-Slide is a music-based film that incorporates elements of physical theatre. It is centred on an unnamed male character finding it harder and harder to deal with the paradoxical realities of life. A triangular relationship between business partner and cleanersees an exploration of power and its application. I-Slide was a finalist in the Sefton Short Film Festival. The film has also been screened on ITV and was a feature of the Final Cut Screening of new works during The Brighton Festival Fringe 2007.
